I would like to thank you for visiting SportTouch Equine Body Work. The fact that you have expressed an interest in equine body work shows that you care about your horse’s health, well being, and athletic capability. I understand that many of you may not be as familiar with equine body work and what it might entail. I would like to provide a brief overview of what equine body work is and the benefits of body work; but if you have any further questions, please visit my frequently asked questions section or feel free to contact me with any additional questions you might have.
Although equine body work can incorporate a variety of services and modalities, the basis lies in equine sports massage. Per regulations of the International Equine Body Workers Association (IEBWA), equine body workers (EBW) belonging to the association are required to, at a minimum, be trained in equine sports massage. Equine body work can aid in relaxation, the relief of muscular pain and stiffness as well as provide an increased range of motion, enhanced performance and gait quality, and increased circulation which can aid in healing and repairing injuries. Since most behavioral issues are often a result of or a reaction to pain or discomfort, equine body work can improve a horse’s disposition by helping to relieve that pain. By contacting an EBW, you are also incorporating another individual into horse’s healthcare team that can provide an educated observation of your horse’s physical condition.
